Wow!! I really should keep up with this better. Oh well. Like the title says, It's been a while since my last post and alot has happened. Finally got the ole Merc runnin' reliably. Don't ask what all I've had to replace.

On the 16th this month, I had my first ever tournament at Welsh Reservoir. Got up at 2:15am, left at 2:30, picked up my partner (his first ever tourney too) and we were off. We got to the ramp at 5:20am to beat the rush. There were 5 clubs and about 60 boats out there so I wanted to get "The Mistress" launched before the rush. Take off was at 7:15. Between the 2 of us we boated a total of 22 fish, most were short though, in the 15 to 17 inch range. Welsh has an 18" limit so it makes it rough. Howerver, we did have 1 that measured with 5 minutes to spare! At least we weighed in. To make the day better the weather was horrible to say the least! The wind was out of the north at about 20mph all day. Then there was the rain/mist/drizzly miserableness. Learned really quickly that I needed some rain pants. I didn't take any pictures, but my partner did, just need him to email 'em to me.

Went out to Lewisville again on the 20th. Caught one decent fish in 2 hours before I called it a day. Bad news is I snagged a rod/reel combo on a backswing and casted it 40' away from the boat. Yep splash!! Now it sits in 35 feet of water.

Went out to Lewisville again yesterday and today. Yesterday's conditions were horrible again, rain, wind and cold. Nothing to report.

TODAY however the weather was much better. No rain BUT there was a northwest wind around 20 all day. That combo makes for ROUGH water!! My old modified tri hull doesn't do 3' rollers, at least not without me getting wet. (I have rainpants now)

Twas the Day after Christmas......

Its 0630 and I'm up. After taking the pup to pee I'm just sitting here waiting to go to BPS to blow my Christmas gift cards. All $225 of 'em. I'll finally have some electronics on the 'ole boat to find the fishes.

Its been a while since my last post. I've since received my test rod from my sponsor, BPS Customes, makers of the Citrus Stick. I love the rod, the feel and balance are top notch.

Went out to Lake Lewisville yesterday

I woke up at 6am intent on hookin' up the old boat and heading north to he Hickory Creek ramp at Lake Lewisville. I needed to test-run some things I had done to the 'ole Merc. Didn't make it out the door till about 9:30. I know I know lazy but hey, it was my day off.

Hit the water at about 10:00am. Skies were clear, the temp was in the low 50's with a north wind blowing about 10mph. I didn't expect to get much fishing done and I was right. I spent most of the time making little tweeks here and there trying to get the Merc to settle down. Man I need a new boat.

The fishing I did get done wasn't successful. I mainly chunked a Rapala ShadRap and a new bait I got from a maker in Abilene. Hag's Tornado F4. Loved the action of this 4" ring fry like stickworm. VERY SLOW sink and traps air bubbles for even more action. I look forward to fishing this bait other than wacky rigged.

I found this to be really cool......

When we were growing up, there was someone who took us fishing. Little did they know what that one act would cause.....

But I digress. There are organizations out there that take kids fishing. Not only to introduce them to the fun involved, but also to teach them about the environment. I've recently discovered a company from Lebanon, Tennessee that will take your old rod, refurbish it, and donate to organizations that introduce children to fishing. Not only do they do all this, but they also will give you a 10% discount on your new Citrus Stick rod purchased from them.

This blog will serve as a place for me to talk about, of course, my fishing. I'll also try to give a real world look at different products and services that I use to try and stick me a wall hanger.

I've been Bass fishing, only taking a hiatus during my stint in the USAF, since I was 8. (even younger with my Grandfather on the old Kajun bass boat that I currently try to use. (when it runs LOL)
